1 John – Learning to Love

January-March 2024

The book of 1 John is a plea to connect the disconnected parts of our lives to the truth of Jesus. They struggled with knowing about God’s love but not loving their neighbor. They believed in God but wondered if a belief in Jesus really mattered. It’s all too easy to say this is a them problem and not an us problem. In reality, we all have parts of our lives disconnected from our beliefs. For example, we know God loves everyone. But there are those we choose not to love. We know God hates the exploitation of his creation as in the sin of human trafficking. Yet, we struggle with pornography knowing full well it funds this evil practice. We are not unlike those to whom this letter was written. In this series, we discover how Jesus connects every part of us to him in the hopeful and graceful way possible.
